On Friday 12th May, engineers will be upgrading the management and analytical systems supporting the N4Protect firewall service. This is required to resolve a number of known issues and allow for a future upgrades to the N4Protect firewalls.

Management and analytical systems are not required for N4Protect firewall services to function but customers will not be able to manage their firewall configuration and some logs may be lost during this maintenance window. No direct impact to the firewalls or customer traffic is expected, however service should be considered “At Risk”.


At Risk – Friday 12th May 22:00 – 02:00 BST
Customers will not be able to manage their firewall configuration and some logs may be lost during this maintenance window.
No downtime is expected for customer traffic, however services will be considered “At Risk” for the duration of the window.
Updates will be posted to N4Status during this planned maintenance.



12/05/17 22:00 BST – Engineers are carrying out preparatory works before commencing system upgrades.

12/05/17 23:00 BST – Engineers will now begin upgrading the analytics system, customers will not be able to access logging, analytics and reporting functions during this time.

12/05/17 23:15 BST – Upgrades to analytics systems are now complete. Engineers will now proceed to upgrade management systems, customer will not be able to access management functions or make firewall configuration changes during this time.

12/05/17 23:40 BST – Upgrades to management systems and all maintenance tasks for this window are now complete. N4Protect management and analytics systems should now be operating as normal and accessible by customers. If any issues are found, please raise with our service desk for further investigation.
