Northampton ACI Cloud Platform Maintenance Notice

On Sunday 28th May @ 20:00 Node4 Engineers will be preforming maintenance on the Northampton Cloud Platform.

We do not expect any service disruption, however the platform will be deemed “At Risk” until Monday 29th May 06:00

Background

On Friday 26th May, engineers will be upgrading software on N4Protect firewall hardware at both our Wakefield and Northampton datacentres. This is required to resolve a number of known issues, enabling N4Protect to continue providing a dependable security service to our customers.

N4Protect is deployed in a highly available cluster and firewalls will be upgraded linearly, as a result services are expected to failover while each firewall is upgraded.  However, we are issuing this notification in case of any unexpected impact from this planned maintenance.

Impact

At Risk – Friday 26th May 22:00 – 02:00 GMT
No downtime is expected, however services will be considered “At Risk” for the duration of the window.
Updates will be posted to N4Status during this planned maintenance.

Background

On Friday 12th May, engineers will be upgrading the management and analytical systems supporting the N4Protect firewall service. This is required to resolve a number of known issues and allow for a future upgrades to the N4Protect firewalls.

Management and analytical systems are not required for N4Protect firewall services to function but customers will not be able to manage their firewall configuration and some logs may be lost during this maintenance window. No direct impact to the firewalls or customer traffic is expected, however service should be considered “At Risk”.

Impact

At Risk – Friday 12th May 22:00 – 02:00 BST
Customers will not be able to manage their firewall configuration and some logs may be lost during this maintenance window.
No downtime is expected for customer traffic, however services will be considered “At Risk” for the duration of the window.
Updates will be posted to N4Status during this planned maintenance.

 


Updates

12/05/17 22:00 BST – Engineers are carrying out preparatory works before commencing system upgrades.

12/05/17 23:00 BST – Engineers will now begin upgrading the analytics system, customers will not be able to access logging, analytics and reporting functions during this time.

12/05/17 23:15 BST – Upgrades to analytics systems are now complete. Engineers will now proceed to upgrade management systems, customer will not be able to access management functions or make firewall configuration changes during this time.

12/05/17 23:40 BST – Upgrades to management systems and all maintenance tasks for this window are now complete. N4Protect management and analytics systems should now be operating as normal and accessible by customers. If any issues are found, please raise with our service desk for further investigation.

Background

On Sunday 7th April, Node4 engineers will be updating some configuration to bring it inline with current standards.
There will be a small amount of affected L2VPN services between Telehouse North Star Suite and other Node4 Locations. Customers affected by this maintenance will be directly contacted.

We expect the downtime to last no longer than a few seconds during the maintenance.

Background

On Monday 24th April between 6:00 AM and 6:30 AM GMT Node4 engineers will be performing scheduled maintenance on one of Northampton edge router. The change will involve the disconnect and reconnect of an edge MPLS access devices.
Impact

During this time we expect service disruption to a small number of customers who are connected to the MPLS access device. These customers will be notified directly. Service disruption is expected to be less than 1 minute, however the service will be at risk durning the whole maintenance window.
