How to fix Volume size mismatches between Disk Manager and Windows Explorer
Posted by Michael Burch on 20 June 2016 11:19 AM

Disk Management shows different partition sizes than Explorer - Hard Drives - Storage

If you expand a volume using Disk Manager and the size increase does not appear in Windows Explorer

1. Right-click and run CMD console as administrator

2. At a command prompt you need to enter the following:

C:\ > DISKPART
DISKPART> List Volume
DISKPART> select volume # (this is the number of the volume listed by the above ‘List Volume’ command, one you've selected it a message will appear saying volume # is the selected volume)
DISKPART> extend filesystem
DISKPART> exit

3. Now Windows Explorer shows the new expanded size of the disk
